The 1 Hour Video Editorial Report
What is a video editorial report?
Instead of reading a long editorial report that puts you to sleep, I've chosen to present it in a video format. I use slide decks to present you your editorial report in a fun, colorful way. It's one hour long where you'll see my face and hear my voice.
I think it's nice to see the human behind the editing, don't you?
How does it work?
My slide deck is based on all the narrative aspects I look over as I'm editing. Things like awkward dialogue, and overwriting.
And believe me, there's so many things I look at, and each slide will go over your specific strengths and weaknesses geared toward each topic.
What kind of feedback can you expect?
Story structure
Viewpoint
Head-hopping
Tense
Overwriting
Description
Filter words
Action beats
Sentence length
Punctuation
Adverbs
Free indirect speech
Chapter endings
Showing vs telling
Dialogue
and more...
Why is it important?
Any editorial report is important because it offers objective feedback that will help you identify areas that need improvement and to refine your writing.
It's also great to clarify strengths and weaknesses and provide guidance on how to further develop your craft.
It's also a great confidence boost! Even if its constructive feedback! You can take that feedback and make your manuscript better, and feel confident your writing abilities have improved.
Line-by-Line Manuscript Edits
What is included in this service?
I read every single word in your novel.
When I say every word, I mean it. I even have Word read it out loud because my ears will catch what my eyes won't.
How does it work?
It's simple.
You send me your manuscript in a word file and I use Words track changes feature to show all the markups and comments.
Markups will be crossed out in red, and anything I add will be in blue.
The way I like to approach the edit is like this:
I read through one page and make any changes that will improve the flow.
Then I go back and re-read it and correct all the grammar and punctuation mistakes.
And then I read it out loud.
I'm very thorough.
How will it improve your writing?
By checking for awkward or unclear sentences, redundant phrasing, and ambiguous language, line editing can help writers express their ideas in a more concise and effective way.
Line editing can also help improve the flow of a manuscript, making it easier and more enjoyable for readers to follow.
It will help writers present a more polished and professional appearance to publishers, agents, and readers.
By catching grammatical errors, typos, and other mistakes, line editing can help writers avoid embarrassing and distracting errors that can undermine their credibility as writers.
What are the benefits of line-by-line editing?
Not only does it help catch pesky typos and grammatical errors, but it can also help you polish and refine your writing style, making it shine like a diamond!
Plus, by fixing awkward sentence structures and pacing issues, you'll keep your readers engaged and on the edge of their seats!
So why settle for anything less than amazing when you can line edit your way to greatness?
Free Book Blurb/Synopsis Review
What is a book blurb/synopsis review?
It's basically when someone (a professional, a beta reader, or a friend) reads the description of your book on the back cover and gives you feedback on how captivating and enticing it is.
You want your blurb to hook readers and make them want to read more, right? Well, that's where a blurb critique comes in! They'll give you suggestions on how to make it more exciting, more clear, and more intriguing.
So, don't be afraid to get a second (or third) opinion on your blurb - it could be the difference between someone picking up your book or leaving it on the shelf!
How does it work?
Well, first I'll read it with fresh eyes, knowing nothing about the story. Then, I'll evaluate if it's clear, concise, and intriguing enough to make a reader want to pick up the book.
I might suggest changes to the wording or structure to make it pop. But don't worry, I'm not trying to rewrite your masterpiece - I just want to make sure your blurb does your book justice!
So, don't be afraid to listen to the suggestions. It could be the secret sauce that makes your blurb irresistible!
Why is it important?
I know it can be hard to let someone else take a red pen to your work. But when it comes to your book blurb, getting a critique can make all the difference!
Why?
Because your blurb is like a sales pitch - it's the first thing a potential reader sees, and if it's not compelling, they're not going to pick up your book.
A blurb critique can help you identify weaknesses and make improvements that will make your blurb stand out from the crowd.
Plus, getting an outsider's perspective can give you fresh ideas and help you see your blurb in a new light. So don't be afraid to take the plunge and get a blurb critique - it could be the key to unlocking the success of your book!
How can it help improve your manuscript?
As someone who's had reviewed their fair share of book blurbs, I can tell you it's a game-changer! A fresh pair of eyes can help identify areas that need work, like clarity, pacing, or tone.
Sometimes we're too close to our own work to see these things. Plus, a good blurb review will give you specific feedback and actionable suggestions for improvement.
It's like having a personal cheerleader who's rooting for your book to succeed! With a little tweaking and polishing, your blurb will be a shining beacon, drawing in readers left and right. So don't be shy - take the plunge and get that blurb reviewed!

Feedback on Character Development, Plot and Pacing
What kind of feedback can you expect?
Here's a brief outline of everything I look at. Just remember, this package is primarily for line-editing. It's not a developmental edit.
But I do pay attention to it and will give you feedback on your overall story structure.
Plot and Structure Analysis: This type of analysis looks at the overall story arc and how the plot is structured. It helps ensure that your story has a clear, logical progression and that events build on each other in a way that keeps the reader engaged.
Character Development Analysis: This type of analysis focuses on the characters and how they change over the course of the story. It's important because readers want to see characters they can root for and relate to, and a well-developed character can make or break a story.
Dialogue Analysis: This type of analysis examines the dialogue between characters and how it contributes to the story. Dialogue is a key component of any story, and good dialogue can make characters come alive and move the plot forward.
Setting and Description Analysis: This type of analysis looks at how the setting and description are used to create a vivid, immersive world for the reader. Good setting and description can transport the reader to another place and time and make the story feel more real.
Point of View Analysis: This type of analysis focuses on the perspective from which the story is told. The point of view can shape the reader's experience of the story and affect how they connect with the characters.
Overall, each type of analysis is important in its own way and can help you create a more engaging, impactful story!
That's a wrap, fellow writers! I hope this sneak peek into my line editing package has given you a good idea of what to expect and how it can help you become a better writer.
My package is designed to empower you, help you refine your writing skills, and give you the confidence to put your best foot forward.
